The dry suit is equipment specifically designed for use in cold waters, distinguished from the common neoprene suit by not allowing water to enter. This allows us to wear comfortable and warm clothing underneath the suit, enabling us to enjoy our excursion without the worry of feeling cold.
It’s important to note that our excursions take place in Patagonian waters, where during the winter months and early spring, water temperatures can drop to 7°C, and during the summer, they do not exceed 19°C. Additionally, during the autumn, winter, and even well into spring, outdoor temperatures can reach below freezing levels.
Besides providing us with comfortable and warm navigation and water activities, this equipment also serves a safety function, as we cannot ignore the risks of hypothermia that are always present when working in extremely low temperatures like those in our Golfo Nuevo. For this reason, the use of a dry suit is compulsory for children under 15 years old between April and December and for children under 10 years old throughout the year. The reason for this policy is precisely to protect minors from potentially severe consequences, as they usually do not have the physical build to generate adequate heat with a normal neoprene suit.
Now, being fully equipped, we have the opportunity to carry out our activities in the water COMPLETELY DRY and well-insulated, regardless of the temperature of the surrounding water.
